Pony Softball for all girls ages 4 to 18!
Balcones Softball is affiliated with the PONY organization. Our games follow the PONY rules and regulations. PONY is an acronym for PROTECT OUR NATION'S YOUTH. The concept for the name originally came from boys at a local YMCA in Washington, PA, and stood for "Protect Our Neighborhood Youth." When PONY became an international program in the early 1950's, "Neighborhood" was changed to "Nation's."
PONY Girls Softball leagues are operated on an "and under" age concept. Your child's softball age is determined by their age on January 1st of the season in which they are playing.
We enthusiastically welcome all girls ages 4-18 as players, no matter what your ability for recreational softball. All you need is the desire to play ball and have fun!
Balcones has the reputation of being one of the strongest total softball programs in Austin.
2008 was our best year yet. Balcones Softball had three teams qualify to the 2008 P.O.N.Y. All-Star Fast-Pitch National Tournament. Not bad for one of the smallest organizations in Central Texas. Our Mustang Shockwave (10U) all-star team made an awesome statement placing in the "final four" in the country. Our Pinto & Shetland all-star teams also made honors by qualifying in the Regional All-Star Tournament here at Balcones Fields.
Our Pony/Colt All-Star team went all the way to the National Tournament in 2003 and our Mustang All-Star team qualified to play in the Sectional Tournament. Our Junior All-Star Softball team won the District championship in 2000 and again in 2001. Our Minor All-Star Softball team won the District championship in 2001. In 1998 our 16-18 division won the state title and only needed two more victories to have proceeded to the World Series.
While we have a great group of coaches and players coming back for this year, we need everyone who can volunteer to fill any and all positions. Your time as a coach, umpire, doing a field maintenance and general cleanup is needed and desired.

SHETLAND SOFTBALL - softball tee ball for girls ages 4-6
PINTO SOFTBALL - coach pitch softball for girls ages 7-8
MUSTANG SOFTBALL - girls ages 9-10
BRONCO SOFTBALL - girls ages 11-12
PONY SOFTBALL - girls ages 13-18
